Our December 2nd, 2009 meeting will feature a presentation on the Gold Spotted Oak Borer. Since 2002, the GSOB has killed over 17,000 oaks, mostly in San Diego County. Our Presenter will be Kim Camili, Forest Pest Specialist with Cal-Fire. Kim is from upstate New York, where she received her Bachelors of Science degree in Natural Resources Management and Environmental Forest Biology from SUNY ESF at Syracuse. She then received her Masters of Science degree from Texas A&M in plant pathology. Her previous work experience includes being Oak Wilt Coordinator for the Texas Forest Service, Forest Pathologist for University of Nevada, Reno and now she is working for Cal Poly through a grant funded position from Cal Fire as their Forest Pest Specialist.
